Beginning in the fall of 2025, IU Indianapolis will transition to virtual parking permits for students living in Ball Residence and the Riverwalk Apartments.
Students will still need to purchase a permit and register their vehicle, but their license plate will serve as their permit. Please see our License Plate Recognition page for more information about LPR.

Yes. Although there is no physical permit, you must still order a ‘virtual’ CH permit online. This ensures that your license plate is properly linked to the CH permit permissions. Please also verify that your license plate information is accurate and up to date.
No. All virtual CH permits have to be completed via your online parking account.
Cameras affixed to Parking Operations vehicles read the license plate and verifies if you have permission to park in CH lots. Make sure your plate is:
Log into the parking portal and update your vehicle information immediately to avoid warnings and citations.
